Carina Press Podcast with Angela and Malle

by Amy Wilkins

Despite what it says above, this is NOT Malle Vallik today! :) This is Amy from the Carina Press Acquisition Team popping in to share with you a podcast from Malle and Executive Editor Angela James! In it, Angela and Malle answer some FAQs about Carina Press — such as what we’re acquiring, what we’re looking to acquire, marketing, and more!

So take a listen…and be on the lookout for more podcasts from the Carina Press team in the future.

I now know even more about Carina and much more certain that I need to work harder on my next submission

  2. This was great to listen to! I am very much looking forward to working with Carina on marketing. :)

  3. This was wonderful… love that everything is so up front and out in the open. That is definitely not the case with every publisher!

  4. Dara England says:

This was very informative Amy. Thanks for putting it up!

  5. Ni Gig says:

Just listened to podcast. Now I am really hoping for some “good news” Carina sounds like the bomb-diggidy of E-pub. I’m crossing every thing I can, fingers, toes, crosshairs….

  6. azteclady says:

I love hearing Angela James talk–her enthusiasm is contagious.

  7. Nancy says:

Awesome! Can’t wait to get my submission polished and sent!

  8. A publisher actually looking for contemporaries, and even sports contemporaries? Well, hallelujah! Thank you, Carina Press.

  9. Listened to the podcast and it makes me anxious to hopefully get GOOD news on my submission. I’m due to hear from someone any time now. Like Ni Gig – I’m crossing all the fingers and toes. I’m afraid if I cross the legs someone will get the wrong idea and point me to the nearest restroom.

  10. I have a question about acquistions- If one is selected to be published with Carina Press, how is notification made? By phone or email? I presume if one is rejected it is done via mail. Forgive me if this has been answered before.

    1. Angela James says:

Acquisitions are done both via phone and email, depending on the circumstances (like how crazy my schedule is and whether you’ve included a phone number). Rejection is done via email, as are revision requests (which are not acquisitions and not rejections).

  11. Good Morning, Angela and everyone at Carina. Have you gotten to any of the previously published manuscripts yets. I don’t want to be a pest, but I sent one on 11/9 and resubmitted on the 19th when I didn’t get an auto response. Just wondering. All the good things I hear are causing me to worry that I won’t be part of this. :(

  12. Thanks Angela for the info. Nice to know how it is done. I sent my manuscrpt 11/20, so witing to hear!

  13. EC Sheedy says:

    Fun and informative podcast. Thanks.

I’m grateful that I’m one of the lucky ones soon to be published by Carina. And so far I’ve been blown away by the speed, professionalism, and genuine passion everyone has exhibited while steadily getting things done. Starting a new e-press has to be an overwhelming amount of work, so I think it’s amazing how y’all are keeping the lines of communication open.

  14. Patrick S Doris says:

Thank you Angela for clarify the rejection format. now I will stop haunting my mailbox and just have anxiety spike when I open my e-mail :)

  15. Diane Craver says:

Very informative! Thank you for taking the time to share. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my novella submission, YOUR PLACE OR MINE!

  16. Ni Gig says:

    Congrats to You EC Sheedy,

Even If I don’t make this round I’ve got more stories and genres to try out.
