When FBI agent Cameron Byrne and federal prosecutor Dominic Price first appeared on page together in the Agents Irish and Whiskey series, I knew they were fated for each other. The loveable everyman with the prickly outsider. Both highly competent at their jobs, both fond of arguing with each other and both in need of someone to help them confront their pasts. They’re a perfect match. What else is there to love about these two guys? Here are just a few things:
Both Cam and Nic have hidden skills and other things you’ll learn about in the Trouble Brewing series. By-the-rules Cam wasn’t always so. His teen years in a chop shop taught him to boost cars and pick locks, talents that make him perfect for the undercover gig in Imperial Stout. It also cost him someone dear, someone you’ll learn more about in Craft Brew. Nic, for his part, isn’t your average lawyer. A former SEAL sniper, he’s got combat and marksmanship skills he’s kept up, even after injury redirected him into the JAG Corps. He’s also kept up with his team, opening Gravity Craft Brewery with one of them. And then there are all the tattoos…
The guys love good food and good brews. The food trucks at the brewery every weekend are a favorite, and Cam can cook anything in a skillet. (Nic can also take down anyone with that same skillet.) Boston-bred Cam also believes the answer to everything can be found at Dunkin’ Donuts, which he doesn’t realize yet just opened in the Bay Area. Nic’s not telling him either. When they’re not drinking coffee, it’s beer for the pair. Nic’s brew of choice is Gravity’s Palo Alto Pilsner; the Redwood Imperial Stout is Cam’s favorite. But stayed tuned because Nic has something special in the works for his man.
Nic and Cam have dedicated their lives to serving and saving others. Nic has skills as a former SEAL to save people in the field, but he also uses his formidable legal skills to defend victims’ rights. Driven by his own tortured past, Cam is a kidnap-and-rescue specialist, helping to bring peace to other families who’ve lost someone. Watch what happens when the man who rescues people for a living comes up against a stubborn, independent man who needs rescuing more than he knows.
About Imperial Stout:
It’s a good thing assistant US attorney Dominic Price co-owns a brewery. He could use a cold one. Nic’s star witness has just been kidnapped, his joint operation with the FBI is in jeopardy, his father’s shady past is catching up with him and the hot new special agent in San Francisco is the kind of distraction best handled with a stiff drink.
Kidnap and rescue expert Cameron Byrne has his own ideas about how to handle Nic, but his skills are currently needed elsewhere. The by-the-book FBI agent goes deep undercover as a member of an infamous heist crew in order to save Nic’s witness, break up the crew and close the case before anyone else gets hurt. Nic in particular.
Things heat up when Cam falls for Nic, and the witness falls for Cam. As the crew’s suspicions grow, Cam must decide how far he’s willing to go—and how far into his own dark past he’s willing to dive—to get everyone out alive.
